Chat Time with Leanbodies founder – Hilmy A Rahman
Hilmy ( in centre ) previously worked for 16 years in a large financial institution and loved what he did, but health & fitness was always something he was passionate about. His dream to open his own gym started way back in 2005 !
Hilmy loved football as a child and wanted to become a professional footballer. After working and getting married, fitness took a backseat and and only re-surfaced as a priority when he took a look at himself in the mirror at age 29. 2 books he bought were a great source of inspiration and learning – Body for Life by Bill Phillips and Body Rx by Scott Conelly.
After getting his fitness level back, Hilmy fell more in love with fitness and began sharing his knowledge and passion with his loved ones – family and friends.
Hilmy remained with the bank till 2011 when he decided it was time to make a career change to pursue his dream. His first step to doing so was getting ACE-certified 🙂

Hilmy says ….
“Live your dreams and brave the sceptics. Believe in yourself , as long as what you do give you satisfaction and affects people in a positive way. The fitness industry in Malaysia has an immensely bright future as the demographics are very supportive of the industry. Fitness will remain important as “sports is medicine” and more people would want to learn more about exercise as they become aware that life is better enjoyed with health, not always with wealth …. ”
