KAKIGYM is a full service gymnasium that offers up-to-date and international standard equipment and exercise machines, that will help you sweat out, work out and achieve your goals, with friends and family by your side. It’s a family business that is run by Aina Sakina and brother Alif. The idea to open a KAKIGYM starts from the brother, Alif. Together with the dad’s business skills and experience, they opened KAKIGYM and has now been operating since January 2010.
KAKIGYM is like a community gym. They offer membership that would suit people from any background. They believe that fitness is for everyone. However, eventually Aina realized that she would do a lot more if she could understand more on exercise and the industry itself. So she decided to take up the ACE- PT course. And now, Aina is an ACE – certified Personal Trainer.
When asked why did she take up the course, Aina replied “Gym business is about providing the service of renting the equipments and facilities to the members. I took ACE because I want to know more on the science, psychology, programming and building rapport. And that is what I got throughout the course.”
One of the workshop that her staff went for was the FiT Weight Loss Specialist (NASM) workshop. ‘Anyone would benefit from dropping a few kilos *laughs*’ she said. This workshop has made her staff more confident in dealing with clients who has weight loss goals (which is the TOP reason people sought after personal trainers!!).
Aina, being a fitness enthusiast, has also went for the FiT Fitness Nutrition Specialist (NASM) that was held here at FiT Malaysia. ‘I love to challenge myself and learn new stuff, I began to ask for more when I get a taste of it.. It’s addictive!!’
What and where do yourself and KAKIGYM in 5 years time?
• Not just being a good personal trainer but also I would love to be a successful entrepreneur in the fitness industry. I would like to have my own healthy restaurant that is cheap and nice . Our own rock climbing centre, water rafting centre and maybe our own MMA training centre. You never know! Because I believe fitness doesn’t have to be in the gym all the time. So KAKIGYM don’t have to be a place just for equipment. We would love to explore more on other stuff. We like the word “KAKI” because it’s so Malaysian lah.
For me personally, I would like to educate people as much as I can in terms of fitness. How many people actually understand fitness? You can help people from a sedentary taxi driver or maybe to a potential athlete if you equip yourself with sufficient knowledge.
